3-8 players, with 3 rounds by default. Roles are reassigned every round.

How to play 9UPPER

One player must find the truth while everyone else mixes honest clues with convincing bluffs.

Three roles

Thinker

This public role listens to the discussion and picks the Truth-Knower.

Truth-Knower

Privately sees the answer and tries to sound credible without making it obvious.

Bluffer

Cannot see the answer and must improvise from the question alone.

One round from start to finish

  1. 01The server assigns roles and shows each player only their own identity.
  2. 02The Thinker draws. Everyone sees the question and direction tags, but only the Truth-Knower can view the card back.
  3. 03Everyone discusses freely while the Thinker judges who really knows the answer.
  4. 04The Thinker selects one other player and cannot select themselves.
  5. 05The answer, roles, and outcome are revealed. The server scores before the host starts the next round.

Current scoring

Correct guess: Thinker +1, Truth-Knower +1.

Wrong guess: the accused Bluffer gains 1 point.

No guess before a timer expires: Thinker -1 point.

Optional timers

The host can enable each hard timer independently. All timers are off by default.

Truth-Knower card view: 10 seconds

Discussion: 30 seconds per player

Thinker guess: 30 seconds

What the host controls

The host configures timers, starts the game, moves discussion into guessing, and starts each new round.
