How to play 9UPPER
9UPPER is a 3-9 player social-deduction party game. Each round, the Thinker identifies the Truth-Knower, who sees the answer, while everyone else bluffs. This independently made online play platform is free, needs no download or account, and is not affiliated with the original game’s creators or publishers.
Three roles
Thinker
This public role listens to the discussion and picks the Truth-Knower.
Truth-Knower
Privately sees the answer and tries to sound credible without making it obvious.
Bluffer
Cannot see the answer and must improvise from the question alone.
One round from start to finish
- 01The server assigns roles and shows each player only their own identity.
- 02The Thinker draws. Everyone sees the question and direction tags, but only the Truth-Knower can view the card back.
- 03After reading the question, the Thinker starts discussion. Once per card they may make an irreversible Call It; that target stops speaking.
- 04The Thinker selects one other player and cannot select themselves.
- 05The answer, roles, and outcome are revealed. The server scores before the host starts the next round.
Current scoring
Correct guess: the Thinker and Truth-Knower each gain the card difficulty D.
Wrong guess: the accused Bluffer gains the card difficulty D.
No guess before a timer expires: the Thinker loses the card difficulty D.
Call It hits a Bluffer: Thinker +1, target -1. It hits the Truth-Knower: Thinker -3. Main and callout points are netted together.
Optional timers
The host can enable each hard timer independently. All timers are off by default.

The host configures timers, starts the game, moves discussion into guessing, and starts each new round. The current Thinker starts discussion.
Frequently asked questions
How do we start a game?
Choose Create a room on the home page and enter a nickname to become the host. Share the 6-character room code or the invite link; each friend joins with that code and their own nickname. Once 3 players are connected, the host starts the game.
Do I need an app or account?
No. Each player opens the link on their phone and enters a nickname.
Can we play remotely?
Yes. Hop on a Discord voice call (or any call you like) while the site handles cards, roles, and scoring.
Can other players see the answer?
Before the reveal, the answer is sent only to the Truth-Knower. After the guess, everyone sees it together.
Are there ads during the game?
The site does not serve any ads today. If advertising is enabled after approval, ads will appear in two places only: beside substantial public guide articles, and as a full-screen ad after a complete game finishes and everyone returns to the lobby. Nothing interrupts a round, the answer reveal, or the scoreboard, and the full-screen ad can be dismissed.
